Indonesia revised visa rules in 2024 to streamline the eVOA process. As of 2026, the path most Villa Soleil guests take is eVOA — apply online 1-7 days before flying, pay IDR 500,000, walk through immigration faster. This guide covers eVOA plus alternatives for longer stays.
| Visa | Validity | Cost (2026) | Where | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VOA | 30+30 days | IDR 500k | Airport | Last-minute |
| eVOA | 30+30 days | IDR 500k | Online | Most tourists |
| B211A | 60+60+60 days | $150-200 | With sponsor | 2-6 months |
| KITAS | 6-12 months | $1,000-2,500 | Sponsor required | Workers, retirees |
| E33G Nomad | 1 year | $200 | Online | Remote workers |
eVOA works for almost every guest arriving for 30 days or less. Application takes 10 minutes:
Print PDF or save it offline. At Bali immigration go straight to "eVOA Lane" with printout plus passport — skip the VOA payment counter.
To extend 30 more days, two options:
Visit Bali immigration office in Jimbaran (closest to Nusa Dua) 7-14 days before visa expires. Bring passport, copy of bio page + visa stamp, return ticket, address proof, IDR 500,000 cash. Three visits required: drop-off, biometric, pickup. Total 3-7 days.
Agents charge IDR 700,000-1,000,000 to handle everything. They pick up your passport, do the runs, return it. You only show up for biometric. For Villa Soleil guests, we keep contact details for trusted agents.
For 60+ continuous days, the B211A Visit Visa is a single-entry visa for 60 days, extendable twice (60+60), total 180 days. Cost $150-200 USD through a sponsor.
For 6+ months, you need a KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas). Variants for retirees (55+), investors, students, workers. Cost $1,000-2,500 USD plus sponsor fees.
The newest option is the Digital Nomad Visa (E33G) launched late 2024 — 1-year stay for remote workers earning income outside Indonesia. Requires $60k+ annual income proof and remote work history.
Indonesia takes overstay seriously:
Set 3 calendar reminders 14, 7, and 2 days before expiry. If you need more time, extend before the deadline.
Each family member needs their own eVOA (including babies). Same cost, same process. Bring birth certificates if children share a parent's passport.
ASEAN passport holders (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar) enter free for 30 days. No application needed.
"The visa is the smallest part of Bali trip planning. Get eVOA done online, print it, forget about it, focus on the fun stuff."

After hosting hundreds of travelers, we've collected practical tips that don't fit a single section but make a real difference. These come from guest debriefs after their trips.
The two most common post-trip comments are: "wish we'd allocated more time" (Bali rewards slowness — squeezing 5 destinations into 3 days underutilizes the island) and "the driver paid for himself" (a private driver removes the daily logistics tax that scooters and Grab impose). Plan a couple of "do nothing" days in your itinerary — pool, book, slow lunch. They become the trip highlights more often than any temple visit.
Tipping isn't expected at warungs but rounding up is appreciated. At mid-range restaurants, 10% service charge is usually included; if not, leave 10-15%. For drivers, IDR 50-100k per day on top of the rate is standard for good service. For housekeeping if you book longer than 5 days, IDR 50-100k at end of stay is generous.
