— The 12-minute drive starts on the Bali Mandara toll road
TL;DR
12 minutes from baggage claim to the villa gate. The cheapest way is to arrange a private transfer with us when you book — IDR 250–300k door-to-door, an air-conditioned car, an English-speaking driver. Grab and Gojek also work but rules apply (see below).
The short version
Ngurah Rai International Airport (code: DPS) is in Tuban, on the narrow strip of land between Kuta and the Nusa Dua peninsula. From the international terminal to Villa Soleil's gate is about 12 km along the Bali Mandara toll road — usually 12–15 minutes, sometimes 20 if you land during evening rush.
Your three options
1. Villa Soleil transfer (recommended)
Tell us your flight number when you book. We'll have a driver waiting in arrivals with a Villa Soleil sign. Air-conditioned car, water on board, English-speaking. Around IDR 250–300k — you pay the driver, cash or transfer.
Why this is the easiest path: you skip the airport taxi mafia, you're not negotiating after a 12-hour flight, and the driver knows exactly which turn into the villa road to take (which, as you'll see below, matters).
2. Grab or Gojek
Bali allows ride-hail apps, but with a wrinkle: Grab/Gojek drivers can't pick you up inside the airport. There's a designated "online taxi" pickup area in the parking deck, a 5-minute walk from arrivals. Follow signs for "GRAB / GO-CAR PICKUP." Fare to Nusa Dua is around IDR 150–200k.
Faster, cheaper, slightly more hassle. Works fine if you packed light and aren't completely fried from the flight.
3. Airport taxi
Counter near arrivals, fixed price (usually 350–400k to Nusa Dua). The simplest option if you didn't pre-arrange. Slightly overpriced but reliable.

What about traffic? When you land matters
The drive is short, but the same 12-km route can take 15 minutes off-peak and 35 minutes during evening rush. Bali traffic peaks at predictable times. Plan arrivals around them if you can:

Before you leave the airport
SIM card: Telkomsel kiosk near baggage claim. Ask for 10 GB for a week — should be 150–200k. They'll install and verify it for you. Skip the upsells.
Cash: ATMs are everywhere; you don't need to exchange money at the airport. 500k–1M IDR is plenty for the first few days.
Bathroom: Use the one in the airport. They're clean. The drive isn't long, but it's the last bathroom break before the villa.
The villa road
Villa Soleil is on a tucked-away gang (small road) just off the main Nusa Dua road. Two things to know:
The turn is unmarked from the main road. Drop your driver our Google Maps pin (link here) and they'll find it.
The gate isn't visible from the road. We'll send a check-in WhatsApp with photo of the entrance the day you arrive.
If you arrive early
Standard check-in is 14:00. If you land at 6 AM, that's a long wait. Two solutions:
Tell us in advance — if no guest is leaving that morning, we'll let you in early at no charge.
Otherwise, drop bags and explore — we'll hold luggage. Breakfast at Bali Collection (8 minutes away) takes a couple of hours easily.
What if my flight is delayed?
It happens — especially with connections through Singapore, KL, Hong Kong. Three scenarios we plan for:
Delay under 4 hours: driver waits at no extra charge. Send us your new ETA via WhatsApp.
Overnight delay: we reschedule the transfer. You only pay once. Most airlines provide hotel for involuntary overnights.
Same-day rebooking to next available flight: we move check-in to your new arrival date if you let us know within 24 hours.
Real-world: most delays sort themselves within 2 hours. We've never charged for a delay-related transfer reschedule.
Common arrival mistakes to avoid
Exchanging money at the airport money changer. Rates are 5-8% worse than ATM withdrawal or in-town money changers. Use the ATM.
Accepting the first taxi driver who approaches you outside arrivals. These are unmetered "taxi mafia" with prices 2-3x normal. Walk past, head to the Blue Bird counter or pre-arranged pickup.
Buying SIM from the first kiosk. First booth at arrivals exit overprices. Walk 50 meters further — there's an authentic Telkomsel kiosk before customs that's 30-40% cheaper.
Not pre-arranging a driver. After a 10+ hour flight, you don't want to be negotiating fares. Pre-arrange.
Asking for "best price" repeatedly. Fixed rates exist. Pretending to negotiate at official counters wastes time.
Not bringing a screenshot of villa pin. Airport WiFi is slow. Have the Google Maps pin saved offline.
Departing — flying out of Bali
Reverse all of the above. We'll arrange a return transfer if you'd like — same pricing, same driver if you request. Three things specific to departure:
Allow 90 minutes from villa-to-gate for international flights, 60 minutes for domestic. Include the airport-arrival traffic during peak hour (15:00-19:00).
Don't pack liquids over 100ml in carry-on. Bali's security is strict about liquid rules even for short domestic hops.
Bali tourist tax (IDR 150,000) — pay online or at the kiosk before departure. New since 2024.
For early-morning international flights (06:00-08:00 takeoff), we recommend airport arrival 04:00-05:00 — quiet roads, short security line.
